About Us

El-Beth-El Temple was founded in the home of Pastor Henry G. Sims, Sr. on August 4, 1985. This journey began with Bible study and worship services for members and friends within the community, who were seeking the presence of the Lord. Pastor Sims was able to introduce individuals to a new or closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

Within a short time, God placed it on Pastor Sims’ heart to begin to look for a building suitable for holding worship services. As the church moved forward, May 30, 1986 God allowed the members of El-Beth-El Temple to purchase property located at 15801 Schaefer Highway. Remodeling the former nursery school property took several phases to transform the structure into a church. This took place between March 1988 and December 1989. The church also  purchased the adjacent lots between December 1989 and February 1990.

El-Beth-El Temple follows the teachings of the Apostles of Jesus Christ. It operates under the belief that the Holy Spirit, birthed by a virgin named Mary, conceived Jesus and is the “only begotten Son of God.” This belief in the gospel includes the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Holiness is a way of life that directs followers of Jesus Christ in their daily interactions and practices.

The philosophy at El-Beth-El Temple encompasses the total person. We believe in serving the spiritual as well as the natural/physical needs of the community. As a result, there are many community outreach programs that we have instituted, partnering with government and other community groups. El-Beth-El serves as a resource for the neighborhood and is committed to building the Detroit area community with its support and prayers.

In December 2004 El-Beth-El Temple purchased property down the street from its current edifice in an effort to meet the growing needs of the members, community and youth that it serves. We moved into our new edifice on April 12, 2009. God has really poured out His favor and allowed El-Beth-El Temple to overcome many obstacles.

As a result, the church is growing in our new location and we can now be a blessing to the neighborhood and community.

El-Beth-El Temple will continue to serve the spiritual and natural needs of the adults and youth within the community. What began as a spiritual calling of Pastor Sims in his home has flourished and continues to grow into a community of members that are committed to enriching the lives of those that it serves.
